Back to School Make Up Look.

September is here, and that can only mean two things: If you are reading this blog in Europe, you are probably welcoming autumn in your life, brown, burgundy and safari colors may be back into your wardrobe because this lovely season has arrived!
And secondly and most important, It’s time to get your old camel satchel and fill it with some colorful markers, some pens and some books because you are probably getting back to school, college or uni.

Going back to school can be a pretty nerve rocking thing, add the need to cause a good first impression and not having planned out a thing till the night before.
Luckily, I’ve come up with 1 super easy make up look for you to look natural but at the same time a bit sophisticated.

Hope you enjoy!

First of all, make sure you clean and moisturize your skin before applying any make up. Make up can make wonders on your skin but you must protect it and keep it hydrated. Moisturizer will also make your make up last even longer and keep it all in place.

Starting off with foundation (if you have nice skin you should be fine with just a bit of concealer to cover a few spots or redness, but I like to even my skin tone. Whatever Works for you). I use Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless  3 in 1 Foundation in color Sand. I totally recommend it if you don’t want to spend more time applying concealer and primer, this foundation has all of them in this foundation if you want a product that is really a Primer, Concealer and foundation all in one. It really saves a huge amount of time; it doesn’t look cakey and lasts forever. It’s definitely one of my favorite drugstore products.

Make sure you blend that nicely, before setting it off with powder. (Rimmel London STAY MATTE powder in color 006 warm beige).

I always like to apply some bronzer to bring back a bit of color into my face. Suck in your cheeks and apply the product along the line it forms when you do that fish face ;).
Blend it nicely till you get the result you want.
I chose to apply some blush in a pinky-peachy tone, mine is from Bobbi Brown in the color Maui but you can use whichever brand you like, the blush is just to give to my cheeks a healthy natural color.

Brows can make such a huge difference; I filled mines in with a matte dark brown eye shadow from KIKO.
For the eyes, I chose a champagne with a shade of pink, shimmery eye shadow from the Naked 3 palette I recently got. (For the crease I used the color Trick, and added a lighter shade called Strange, for the inner corner of my eyes to make it pop).
Create a fine line with your favorite liquid eyeliner (I used MAC superslick liquid eye liner in the color On The Hunt) and use mascara to give your look a final end.

For my lips I just wear regular lip balm (The one I’m wearing in the pic is Rouge Coco in the color Baume from Chanel) but you can use your regular Vaseline that you can buy at your nearest drugstore or you can simply go for any BabyLips by Maybelline lip bars which really moisturize your lips throughout the day.

And done! You are ready to go, I promise this doesn’t take more than 10 minutes and it’s as easy as it looks.

Much Love,

Paloma.

My summer favorites

  1. Porto, Portugal - I went to this city in July to spend a weekend with my friends and go to the One Direction's concert. It was not my first time there, but it was definitely my favorite one. In the middle of all the fun that I had with the friends that I already knew, I had the opportunity to meet some of my "international friends" who came to Porto to see 1D. An incredible concert, a mix of accents, some of my best friends... For sure Porto was one of my favorites of this summer.
  2. I'm talking about the movie and the book (which is even better). I'm talking about Hazel and Augustus. And I'm finally talking about Augustus and Isaac. I love the fact that we can see a romantic part, a dramatic part and even a funny part. All in one. But opposite to almost everyone, what I really love about this story is the friendship between Augustus and Isaac. "When the scientists of the future show up at my house with robot eyes and they tell me to try them on, I will tell those scientists to screw off, because I do not want to see a world without him" - I'll never forget!
  3. Peach, natural or stracciatella. Yogurts are my addiction, especially in the summer because no one prefers to drink milk or tea. I mean, the ones who don't like fresh milk or fresh tea like me. Basically greek yogurt is heaven, so of course it's one of my summer favorites.
  4. Amnesia from 5 Seconds of Summer is one of my favorite songs, one of those songs who really mean something to you. The music video came out this summer and it's amazing (just like the lyric video). You can check it here and let me know if you like it. Oh and yes, this song was on replay the entire summer.
  5. Well, I'm Portuguese... Obviously this was not my favorite World Cup ever. But, I'm a super fan of football and I LOVE this kind of competitions. I don't like the team from Argentina, of course I didn't want them at the final. I like some players of Germany but I didn't want them at the final too. So with Portugal out, I wanted a final between Netherlands and Brazil. I can't lie, that game between Brazil and Germany was epic and I glad I was alive to see it... At the end of the day Germany won and it was fair. I hope I can see more of my country in the next one. Just wait for us.
  6. Oily skin sucks. Oily skin in the summer sucks even more. When I had to look for a good foundation to my skin, I found this one from Essence and I liked it. I won't tell you that you'll get a perfect coverage, but it's good and the "all about matt" factor is there. It's also really easy to apply because it's more like a BB cream, amazing for summer's lazy days.
  7. I'm definitely not good with makeup (you'll see that the beauty expert here is Paloma, but I'm trying). So this was my first primer and I never changed it. This one is from Gosh and it's really good.
  8. I LOVE LIPSTICKS. Seriously, they're my biggest addiction. This one is a neon one from baby lips, they just came to Portugal this summer and I'm in love. They can really keep your lips hydrated and they have amazing colors. I think baby lips are perfect for summer because sometimes you want to be more casual and you're too lazy like me, so you just need 5 seconds to look perfectly. You have these masterpieces.
With love,

The Iconic Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant in Charade: Love, Mistery and Lies

Considered to be "the best Hitchcock movie that Hitchcock never made" this classic from 1963 follows the story of Regina Lampert (starring Audrey Hepburn) after the murder of her husband.

Set in the magical city of Paris, Hepburn is then called into questioning by a CIA Agent who tells her that her husband had a quarter of a million dollars stolen during the World War 2 from the American Government and that she must find the money to give it back to her country. Now, three of her husbands' comrades claim the money to themselves and think Hepburn knows where it is and threaten this faboulous widow to kill her if she doesn't tell them where the money is.

In the middle of these events, she meets a man (Cary Grant) which doesn't tell her who he really

is but in which he trusts completely after he promises to help her.
The movie, full of plot twists keeps you glued to the screen, is one of those movies that keeps you with your eyes opened, wanting to know what is about to happen and it manages to surprise you to the very last minute.
Cary Grant photographed by Milton Greene, 1962.

Technicolor movies have that kind of magic, Charade is that kind of ideal movie, great argument, great cast (Did I mention Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn?), such an amazing and romantic love story that, in my opinion, everyone wishes to have one day.
But despites all of that it gives you a lesson about lies and truth, about true love (even if it's not the first one or even it is a bit unconventional)

Nothing is what it seems and this movie is the exact definition of this saying.
I totally recommend this movie, even though if you aren't a great fan of classic movies, this is a MUST in everyone's life.

If you don't have plans for this weekend, get your hands on this perfect movie, I promise as Peter Joshua did to Reggie that you won't regret it.

Reggie Lampert: Why do people have to tell lies?
Peter Joshua: Usually its because they want something. They are afraid the truth wont get it for them.

Charade (1963) was directed by  Stanley Donen.

Wishlist: visit before I die (Europe)

Brighton, UK
There's times when you think about the future and you can imagine yourself living in one and just one city. The city of your dreams. Mine was always London, but lately I can imagine myself in Brighton. I love the fact that is in the coast. Also, I love cultural cities and Brighton entertainment offers a hotbed of Festivals, galleries, museums, film, nightlife, comedy and theatre. For now, I'm sure Brighton is one of the cities that I want to visit really soon.

Paris, France
Paris is always a good idea. The city of light, the city of romance, world's fashion capital. You can call it whatever you want, but you have to confess that visiting this sophisticated and glamorous city is one of your biggest dreams. Well, it's one of my dreams and I can't wait to be right beside the Eiffel Tower or visiting the Louvre.

Rome, Italy
The Eternal City, the city that was the center of the planet in Antiquity. Rome, capital of Italy. I am not at all an expert but I understand that the architecture is the strongest point of the city. There isn't a street that doesn't transpire beauty. I don't identify with the religion that is taken so seriously in Rome, but I find it beautiful the belief that people put in everything. I can very easily imagine myself riding a vespa through the streets of Rome or throwing some coins into the Fonte di Trevi.

Madrid, Spain
The most important city of the Community of Madrid is Madrid, the capital of Spain. Madrid is famous for being a city where people always have something to do, which is something that I love. I have a list of places that I want to visit in Madrid already done and a depression because I never had the opportunity to go there. But here is the list: Plaza Neptuno, Plaza de Cibeles, Catedral de la Almudena, Rastro de Madrid, Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol. Plaza Mayor, El Retiro, Palacio Real, Museo del Prado and of course Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
(I wrote the names in Spanish - besides the stadium - to be easier for you to find them)

Giethoorn, Netherlands
Giethoorn is a city from Netherlands. This city is known as the Venice from north and it's a place where cars are forbidden. Thinking about a place to relax and enjoy the nature? You found it and with lucky you'll find me there too.

The Teen Choice Awards: Best and Worst of the Blue Carpet and highlights of the night.

The Teen Choice Awards are one of the most fun, entertaining and let me tell you, complete (in which categories are concerned) award galas for teens. This year, the Teen Choice Awards were set in Los Angeles and we had to set our eyes on its characteristic blue carpet. Here it goes or favourite outfits of the night but also a few comments on our not so fave ones. Hope you enjoy!

Best Dressed.

Nina Dobrev in Vionnet

Nina Dobrev was definitely our favorite outfit of the night. With a gorgeous crop top and high wasted shorts in a spray painted inspired look in blue and pink she combined it with pink stilettos and a golden/bronzy clutch. Her look is the absolute winner of this blue carpet, what do you think?

Moreover, Nina, The Vampire Diaries star ,wore a messy but classy fishtail which are now so on trend. We love Nina, and she always looks absolutely gorgeous but the other night was an absolute stand out.

Taylor Swift in Novis

The Red star wanted to show her gorgeous slightly tanned body and she chose a green combo to do it. She looked beautiful in that green midi skirt and paired crop.

She looked really natural leaving her hair short and with natural beachy waves and she decided to accentuate her lips with a soft shade of orangy red. She looked flawless, go Taylor!

Shay Mitchell in White lace combo.

Dobrev wasn’t the only one styling her hair on a fish tail. The Pretty Little Liar, Shay Mitchell, also rocked this hairstyle flawlessly.
This young and beautiful actress wore a really hot white laced crop top with a long at the knee pencil skirt that fit perfectly with her tanned skin. She chose a dark shade of red for her lips.
For managing with so much style this hot style, Shay Mitchell is our top #3.

Other looks we liked:

Moving on, we don’t pretend to offend anyone with this “worst dressed” selection. All in all this is just a humble opinion on fashion choices.

Hailee Steinfeld in Elie Saab

Sometimes Haute Couture designs are not the best election to make. In this case we have Hailee Steinfeld in Elie Saab that spite of being one of my personal favorite designers didn’t make justice to this teen beauty. Sorry to say this, but this outfit added this teen at least 20 years… That outfit is too old for teens Hailee.
In Elie Saab we also saw Jennifer Lopez who looked absolutely flawless and deserves at least top #4 on our list.

Lea Michele in Fausto Puglisi

Lea Michele the soul of Glee, is one of my personal disappointments of the night. Used to see Lea as one of the best dressed, with her glowing smile in every other gala, this time she choose a dress that would have passed for a pool party dress, Sorry Lea, not this night.

Chloe Morezt in Valentino

I haven’t have the pleasure to meet this young actress yet, but Chloe Morezt, what were you thinking when you put on that black top that could pass for that censor bars they used to put on TV? Those shorts would have been the perfect pare for a white lace crop top or a nice shirt.

Fave male:

Tyler Posey, the MTV were wolf did surprise us with that Hawaiian costume and that dance for the latin American singer, Jennifer Lopez.

It is an undeniable fact, The Fault in Our Stars was the absolute protagonist of the night, winning almost every award of every category in which it was nominated. CONGRATS to the cast! We also saw Josh Hutcherson and the oscar winning Jennifer Lawrence wininng best actor/actress for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, as well as Donnald Sutherland. #tribute.

Moving on to Music, even though One Direction couldn’t attend to the ceremony because they are currently on Tour, they won every category in which they were nominated.

Watch out for the breakout music artist: 5 Seconds of Summer are slowly taking on the world. By now I’m sure you must have heard them on the radio with their hit: She Looks So Perfect. This Australian music band is a good choice to add into your iPod. Check their new single Amnesia, which is in our favorites this month.

We had the chance of seeing the absolutely gorgeous Demi Lovato with her new haircut  and as usual was one of the best performance of the night which counted with the brit guest, Cher Lloyd. She’s one of my faves when it comes to the Teen Choice awards and this year we’ve seen a more rocky Demi but still elegant. GO DEMI!

For TV shows, The Vampire Diaries was a well-deserved winner of the night, including Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. I’d also like to mention the award to Choice TV Villain which was for the talented Dylan O’Brien, for his role in the past season of Teen Wolf. Look out for him on, THE MAZE.

Here’s everything! What was your highlight of the night? Comment below your favorite outfits, if your fave artist won or not etc.

4 pictures: Dolphins, Keegan and more.

"We're going to the zoo to see a kangaroo and a lion too"
Ok, I stopped. I WENT TO THE ZOO and it was awesome. I'm not the biggest fan of animals, almost all of them scare me, but I love every time I go to the zoo. I spent the entire day with four of my favorite friends, which made everything better. We saw almost everything (we forgot the birds, sorry) and my favorites were the monkeys, lions and dolphins. The cutest part was when a baby monkey tried to hold our hands, I want to adopt him.

Welcome to my city. I spend the majority of my vacations in Lisbon. A couple of weeks ago I went with my best friend to this place and I loved it. It's one of the best places to walk and relax. In a big city it's not easy to find a place where you can relax, thank god Lisbon has some of them.

This is the summary of my summer afternoons: sun and melon slush. They sell this in a park of my city and it's really cheap, I have no idea how much of those I drink every summer.

I started watching Pretty Little Liars this summer and untill now I only watched the first season, but I confess: I'm totally addicted. I can't stop watching it because I NEED to know more and more after each episode. My favorites are probably Spencer and Toby. Yes Keegan, you're my new big crush.
Now I won't have that much time to watch the serie, but I can't wait to spend an entire week watching every season and eating chocolate cookies.

With love,
R. x
